Nashville Superspeedway had a little bit of everything: rain, retaliation, and wrecks.
Following a rather calm start to the Ally 400 where Christopher Bell dominated both stages, weather moved into the area. After a short delay, the race took a complete turn into chaos.
When the NASCAR Cup Series went back racing, 10 cautions followed due to incident.
Unfortunately, one of those wrecks involved the No. 20 Dewalt Camry XSE. On lap 228, Bell’s car spun into the wall. With too much damage, the car was taken out of contention, leaving the gates wide open for another driver to snag a win.
As the race was drawing to a close, fans watched Ross Chastain and Denny Hamlin duke it out for the win. Both cars battled side by side for many laps, reliving old memories of the foes intense racing in the past. It wasn’t until Hamlin was finally able to get ahead that the race for the win was seemingly over. However, the caution came out, sending the Ally 400 into 5 overtime restarts.
Each attempt at completing the race was more chaotic than before as drivers were desperate for a win. With cars running out of fuel and a questionable call from NASCAR regarding on-track position following an incident, things got messy really fast.
