There will be a pair of incredibly sharp Circle B Diecast paint schemes when the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series visit the behemoth that is Talladega.
Revealed first on TobyChristie.com, Ryan Truex and Blaine Perkins will carry the iconic Circle B blue when both series participate in a Saturday doubleheader at the 2.66-mile superspeedway.
Talladega will mark the second time in 2021 the diecast retailer will join Truex in his Truck Series efforts after joining the New Jersey native at the Bristol Dirt race earlier this season.
“I grew up playing with diecasts and collecting them, so it’s always neat when I can get behind the wheel of a Circle B Diecast livery,” said Truex, “Working with Brent and our creative team always means the scheme is going to be wild. They did a great job with this one, and I think it’ll really stand out on the track. Can’t wait to do some superspeedway racing at ‘Dega!”
Perkins is in the midst of his first NASCAR Xfinity Series season, racing a part-time schedule for Our Motorsports in the No. 23 Camaro. Talladega will mark his second superspeedway start of the season, previously scoring a 23rd place finish at Daytona.
“I’m looking forward to joining the Circle B family this weekend at Talladega,” said Perkins. “Like many NASCAR fans, I collected diecasts of my favorite drivers growing up, and to be able to have my own diecast made is a dream come true, especially one that looks this good. I’m looking forward to getting this awesome-looking Circle B scheme on the track this weekend and having a good outing.”
The paint scheme was crafted from the creative mind of Tanner Whitt, graphic designer for the Truex Management Group (TMG), who represents both Truex and Perkins. Whitt has had a hand in multiple paint schemes thus far for TMG drivers after joining the creative team earlier this year. The uniquely designed Circle B livery draws some design cues from other forms of motorsports and a paint scheme icon of NASCAR.
“The inspiration for the paint schemes came from a mixture of rally car liveries and Mark Martin’s Eagle One paint scheme from 1999,” Whitt told TobyChristiecom. “I have always liked that scheme and actually have that diecast at home. I think it was given to me as a Christmas gift when I was really young, so it’s always had significance to me because of that.”
For the North Carolina-based designer, the double design is a significant achievement.
Said Whitt, “It is super special to me personally, just as a lifelong fan of NASCAR, and now as an artist in the sport to have two schemes I designed on track on the same day, it almost doesn’t even feel real. As a designer, you always want to create something that stands out and looks different from what everyone else is doing, especially in NASCAR, and I feel like this Circle B paint scheme accomplishes that. The contrasting colors of blue and orange should pop really well on track.”
Circle B Diecast has enjoyed a strong relationship with the TMG-backed drivers, taking their relationship to a new level with two sponsored entries across two series at one of the most popular NASCAR venues in the United States.
“We really liked the design TMG created for Ryan’s truck at Talladega, and since the NASCAR Trucks Series race is the same day as the NASCAR Xfinity Series, we decided to have Blaine and Ryan run the same livery in each series,” said Brent Powell, President of Plan B Sales. It’s going to be really cool to see the scheme on track twice in one day!”
