NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor Chase Purdy, has tested positive for COVID-19 and will have to sit out Saturday’s United Rentals 176 at Watkins Glen International, according to a statement from GMS Racing released on Thursday.

AJ Allmendinger – full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series driver for Kaulig Racing and a road course veteran — will pilot the No. 23 Bama Buggies Chevrolet Silverado in Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at the 2.45-mile road course.

“Late yesterday afternoon, GMS Racing driver Chase Purdy tested positive for COVID-19 with mild symptoms. In accordance with NASCAR protocol and the CDC guidelines, Purdy will not compete in Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Watkins Glen International.
