Charlotte Motor Speedway is the latest track to be approved to allow fans to sit in the stands during upcoming NASCAR races. On Friday, the speedway announced that they will be permitted to have fans for their NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series and IMSA races at the track between October 10-11.

“Throughout the summer, we’ve been working with local and state officials to bring fans to the Bank of America Roval 400 weekend for what promises to be one of the season’s most anticipated events,” said Charlotte Motor Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager Greg Walter in a track statement. “While we regret that we cannot accommodate every fan who would like to be part of this spectacular race weekend, we are committed to providing the best and safest experience possible for those who are able to attend.”

The announcement is a result of North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announcing that outdoor sports venues with a seating capacity in excess of 10,000 would be allowed up to 7% capacity earlier this week.

Obviously, 7% capacity would mean roughly 5,000-5,500 fans per day for CMS.

No additional tickets will be sold for the NASCAR Cup Series race on October 11th, as current ticket holders will make up the full allotment of spectators. Fans who are not among the allotted fans in the stands for the Cup race, but had already purchased tickets for the event, will have the choices of a 120% credit toward a 2021 event or a full refund of their ticket purchase.

According to Charlotte Motor Speedway, tickets are still available for the October 10th NASCAR Xfinity Series event and the IMSA Weathertech SportsCar event. Adult tickets are $50 and they can be purchased by calling 1-800-455-3267 or by visiting www.charlottemotorspeedway.com. For children age 13 and under, tickets are free.
