In Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Kansas Lottery 250 at Kansas Speedway, Austin Cindric looked like a slam dunk to take a fourth-consecutive win. But then, he hit the wall and he looked like he was going to lose. But then, a late-race caution came out and he won the race off pit road, so he was going to win, again, right?

Wrong.

Brandon Jones came out of nowhere on the final lap to sneak around Cindric to collect his second win of the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

For Jones, even though he did not line up in the first three rows on the final restart, he never panicked as his team always finds a way to give him a shot.

“We’re never out of this thing,” Jones said. “That’s what I love about these guys. We keep our head in the game and we don’t get excited during these races. We continue to make changes, my feedback, I think, was good all day.”

This is Jones’ third-career win in NXS competition. Making the win even more impressive, is the fact that Jones has run three races in the last two days as he also competed in the NASCAR Truck Series events on Friday and Saturday as well.

“It’s been a long two days,” Jones explained. “I feel exhausted. Obviously, the heat is big here.”

Cindric held on to finish second, one spot shy of becoming only the second-ever driver to score four wins in a row in NASCAR Xfinity Series history.

Harrison Burton finished third.

Ryan Sieg gambled by not pitting before the overtime finish, yet somehow he was able to escape Kansas Speedway with a hard-fought fourth-place finish.

Ross Chastain capped off his day in fifth.

Justin Haley, Daniel Hemric, Michael Annett, Riley Herbst and Justin Allgaier rounded out the top-10 finishers in the race.

Two underdog drivers looking to march their way into the Playoffs had great finishes. Brandon Brown scored an 11th-place finish, while Jeremy Clements came home right behind him in 12th.
