When approached about his relationship with teammate Brad Keselowski at Wednesday’s Daytona 500 Media Day, following a crash last Sunday in the Busch Clash, Joey Logano said that he felt he and Keselowski will be okay after talking things over, but ultimately, “We’ll see.”

When it was Keselowski’s turn to take questions, the newly turned 36-year old driver (his birthday fell on Wednesday) still echoed the same harsh stance against blocking that he has consistently held for years.

“I think I’ve been pretty consistent and verbal about the blocking on the race track, so I don’t really have anything that I feel differently about with respect to that,” Keselowski said while holding a cup of coffee.

Logano mentioned that he and Keselowski cleared the air as they have talked since the Busch Clash. What was said?

Keselowski preferred to keep that private.

“As far as the comments specific to Joey, I’ll keep those between him and I,” Keselowski answered.

Doesn’t exactly sound like the two teammates are lining up to be best friends. But one good sign was that Keselowski did toss one joke out.

Keselowski said that he was happy that the rift between he and Logano was giving the media something to write about.

Chuckles aside, is it possibly the stress of impending free agency (Keselowski’s current contract runs thru 2020) or an offseason crew chief change that is helping Keselowski seem more prickly so far in 2020?

“I don’t know, I’m probably a little bit stuck in the forest to see it from the trees, but with respect to that I hate losing races that I feel like we were in position to win, so I hope that never changes regardless of team dynamics, contract dynamics and so forth,” Keselowski explained. “I think most people would tell you that’s a good thing that you want to win and you hate losing, so certainly we were in position to win that race and I’m proud of that and we weren’t able to capitalize on it through no fault of our own, which is frustrating whether it’s here or anywhere else.”

While Logano was stressing that they’ll be all good, Keselowski was using the word frustrated, and continuing to rip the style of racing that led to a crash that swept his No. 2 car out of the running order last Sunday.

While the two will more than likely settle their differences as the weeks go on, there certainly seems to still be a little animosity lingering in the air at Team Penske.
