Rick Ware Racing, and the team’s No. 51 Camaro has found a full season of primary sponsorship for the upcoming 2021 season.

Confirmed on Tuesday, Biohaven Pharmaceuticals will promote their Nurtec ODT medication for the duration of the 2021 Cup Series season, beginning with the 2021 Daytona 500.

Nurtec ODT, which was approved by the FDA this year, is used for the treatment of migraines.

“Rick Ware Racing welcomes Biohaven as our primary sponsor in the NASCAR Cup Series,” owner Rick Ware said in a statement. ” I am ecstatic to have Nurtec ODT join the Rick Ware Racing family, and we just can’t wait for 2021 to get rolling. To have a sponsor help fund our team and at the same time, raise awareness about an acute treatment for migraine is a win for us and our fans. As the parent of a family member with a migraine, I am particularly excited to help share the message about Nurtec ODT with the world so that many others can get relief. Racing is all about speed and we look forward to crossing the finish line with the Nurtec ODT No. 51 car.”

Graham Goodrich, the Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing for Biohaven, believes the connection between the physical and mental demands of a NASCAR driver fit well with the brand’s initiative.

“Patients are at the center of everything that we race for at Biohaven and our partnership with Rick Ware Racing will help to continue to raise awareness about Nurtec ODT,” said Goodrich. “Like many individuals, Rick’s racing family understands the impact of migraine and the need for fast migraine relief. Drivers who compete in races like the NASCAR Cup Series have to perform at the highest level under challenging mental and physical conditions. Like a race car driver, everyone wants to perform at their highest level but those who suffer from migraines know what it’s like to be forced to the sidelines. People with migraines need fast relief to get back on track and Biohaven is thrilled to partner with the Rick Ware Racing team on the Nurtec ODT No. 51 car for the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series.”

Designer Joe Crowdes is responsible for the bold colors on the No. 51 Camaro, which will debut in February at the Daytona 500.

“This Nurtec ODT car was an ingesting concept to bring to life,” Crowdes told TobyChristie.com. “The scheme may look simple and understated. This is not the case, I can go out on a limb and say this is one of the toughest schemes I have worked on. Working with BioHaven and Nurtec ODT has been great. Being a pharmaceutical company there are a lot of regulations and whatnot, so there were more fine details to work out on this on. Nurtec ODT had come to Rick Ware Racing with a rough concept and I was able to re-work said concept. All in all, I am super pumped to be a small part of something so big for RWR and Nurtec ODT, it is huge in this day and age in NASCAR to have a new sponsor, and then on top of that have a NEW FULL-TIME sponsor for 36 races is even bigger! Huge shout out to RWR for the continued support and to JR Courage and his team that thrashed to get this car ready for this unveiling. I look forward to working with RWR more this year and cannot wait to see what other exciting things that the team has in store this season and seasons to come.”

In addition to the on-track sponsorship, RWR and Biohaven will also participate jointly in a Military Salutes Program.

The program will consist of visiting military bases across the country to personally thank troops, as well as offer driver Q&A and photo opportunities. The partnership plans to visit 50 military bases during the 2021 season.

The No. 51 team saw multiple drivers take the wheel during the 2020 season, with NASCAR Cup Series driver Joey Gase spending 28 races in the seat. In addition, James Davison, Garrett Smithely, and Josh Bilicki all spent time in the seat.

A driver of the No. 51 Camaro is expected to be announced at a later date.
