One of the most popular underdog organizations in the NASCAR Xfinity Series is solidifying its plans for 2022, and the first piece to their full-time driver puzzle was put in place on Monday.
Bayley Currey will move to JD Motorsports in 2022, marking the first full-time season of Xfinity Series competition for the Texas native.
“I’m very excited and thankful to be back with JD Motorsports with Gary Keller in 2022,” said Currey. “Mr. Davis took a chance on me and gave me an opportunity late in the season last year. The relationship progressed and eventually turned into a full-time ride this year. Throughout the off-season we have been putting in a ton of work to get our fleet of cars ready to compete for 2022. Daytona can’t get here soon enough!”
The 25-year-old made 24 starts in 2021 while spending time in both Mike Harmon Racing equipment and JD Motorsports for the majority of the second half of the season. Currey scored his first career top-10 finish of his young career at Phoenix with MHR and placed in the top-20 in multiple starts for JD Motorsports at Las Vegas, Texas, and Kansas respectively.
Currey will have a “full array” of partners on board his entry with those partners expected to be announced at a later date, along with the entry number.
Currey will make his full-time debut with JD Motorsports in February for the NASCAR Racing Experience 200 at the Daytona International Speedway. Coverage begins at 5:00 p.m. EST on FOX Sports 1.
