Richard Childress Racing was in a Throwback Thursday mood today. In addition to unveiling the No. 8 Caterpillar throwback Scheme that Daniel Hemric will run in the Bojangle’s Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, they have also lifted the curtain on Austin Dillon’s throwback Scheme as well.
Dillon will drive a black and gold No. 3 Paint Scheme that harkens back to the days of his grandfather — Richard Childress — being behind the wheel of the No. 3 car in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
This is a truly sharp paint job and definitely a cool tribute on the 50th anniversary of Richard Childress Racing.
Humble Beginnings. Family Legacy. 50 Years. @AustinDillon3 & the No. 3 @AmericanEthanol team will celebrate #RCR50 with the black & gold livery driven by Richard himself in the late 1970s at @TooToughToTame's Throwback Weekend.
