Austin Dillon left Sunday’s GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in the 13th-place in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series point standings. However, after penalties stemming from NASCAR confiscating the deck lid from his No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 before it went on track for Friday’s practice session, Dillon is now 14th in the point standings.

Dillon was docked 10 driver points, Richard Childress Racing was also docked 10 owner points, crew chief Danny Stockman Jr. was fined $25,000 and the team’s car chief Gregory Ebert has been suspended from this weekend’s Gander RV 400 at Dover.

Now, Dillon sits just 19 points ahead of the cutoff for the Cup Series Playoffs. The penalty moves Ryan Newman up from 14th to 13th in the standings.
