As DGM Racing announced their three entries for the upcoming NASCAR Xfinity Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway, there were some sad reactions from hardcore Alex Labbé fans when their favorite driver was not included in the lineup. Well, DGM Racing wasn’t done just yet, folks.
Labbé, 28, will run the Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner. 300 in the team’s fourth entry, the No. 90. According to a press release from DGM Racing, Labbé is slated for 18 races for the Florida-based team in 2022.
DGM team owner Mario Gosselin is happy to continue his partnership with a driver he has helped for many years in Labbé.
“We couldn’t be more happy to welcome Alex back as we gear up for the 2022 season,” said Gosselin. “I’ve worked with Alex at every stage of his racing career, dating back to when he raced Late Models. I’m honored to be part of his successes and we’re extremely excited to have him on board for another season.”
While this is a reduction in track time for Labbé, who has run the full NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule the last two seasons and three of the last four years, he’s elated to return to the team that has helped his NASCAR dreams come true.
“I am so excited to be back with DGM Racing! Although we are scaling back the amount of races this year, I am confident it will allow us to be more competitive and successful as a team in the long run,” explained Alex Labbé. “Mario has supported me for as long as I can remember, and I cannot thank him and Michelle enough for what they’ve done over the years. Having the opportunity to race in NASCAR is a dream come true.”
Following racing at Daytona in the No. 90, Labbé will move to the No. 36 car for the next three races at Auto Club Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Phoenix Raceway.
Longtime sponsorship partners of Labbé, Can-Am, Larue Snowblowers and VR Victoriaville, will help him fulfill his 18-race commitment. Can-Am will be the primary sponsor for eight races this season.

Labbé, who has made 112 starts in his NASCAR Xfinity Series career, finished a career-best 14th in the championship standings in 2020. The native of St. Albert, Quebec finished fourth in the 2020 NXS event at the Charlotte ROVAL. To date, that is the best finish of his NASCAR Xfinity Series career.
In 2017, Labbé scored the NASCAR Pinty’s Series championship in a four-win campaign while driving for Go Fas Racing Canada. Gosselin served as Labbé’s crew chief in that championship-winning season.
