After what can only be described as a chaotic event, DJ Kennington was able to go back-to-back in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series at Delaware Speedway, picking up his second victory of the weekend in Sunday Afternoon’s Qwick Wick 125.

Kennington was able to hold Brandon Watson and Andrew Ranger back in NASCAR Overtime, picking up his 23rd career victory in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series. Alex Guenette and race dominator Treyten Lapcevich rounded out the top five.

Lapcevich, who captured his third consecutive pole position and led the first half of the 125-lap event, was looking to be in a good position to capture his first victory when contact on a restart cut down his right rear tire. Lapcevich’s No. 20 Chevrolet then spun around in turn four, right into the path of championship contender – and teammate — Alex Tagliani.

The result of the accident was an 18th-place finish for the road course expert, one that would be very costly to his chances at the 2021 NASCAR Pinty’s Series championship. Entering the final day of the 2021 season five points ahead of L.P. Dumoulin, Tagliani now has a seven-point deficit to make up in the season finale.

Dumoulin finished the race in sixth place, picking up 12 points on Tagliani heading into the finale.  Dexter Stacey, Larry Jackson, Donald Theetge, and Marc-Antoine Camirand rounded out the top-10. Camirand was running well inside the top-five when an accident with Shae Gemmell sent the 22 Racing Chevrolet to the rear of the field under caution.

Following the race, the Ed Hakonson Racing crew and the 22 Racing crews got into a disagreement on pit road, which started with a jack stand hitting the window of Marc-Antoine Camirand’s entry. From there, the crews scrambled all across the pit road attempting to get involved in the scuffle.

11th and 12th were Sam Fellows and TJ Rinomato, each posting their career-best results.

The starting order for the second of two races at Delaware Speedway on Sunday Evening will be determined by the fastest laps in the first race. Treyten Lapcevich, Brandon Watson, Shae Gemmell, Donald Theetge, and DJ Kennington will be the top-five starters.
