Ty Gibbs Rebounds From Bump on Final Restart, Claims Third ARCA Menards Series Victory of 2021 at Toledo

TY Gibbs, driver of the #18 Monster/Terrible Herbst/ORCA Toyota, celebrates winning in Victory Lane after the General Tire 150 for the ARCA Menards Series at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky on Saturday, July 11, 2020. (Aaron Doster/ARCA Racing)

They started from the pole position and they eventually ended up in victory lane, but the 200 laps that came inbetween weren’t necessarily just that easy for Ty Gibbs and his Joe Gibbs Racing team, as the 18-year-old had to make the final pass for the lead on championship contender Corey Heim with under 20 laps to go.

After dominating the first half of the event, Gibbs lost the lead on the final restart of the race, after Corey Heim muscled him out of the way for the lead, knocking the Joe Gibbs Racing driver back to third-place. Gibbs rebounded, passing both Jesse Love and Corey Heim in the final run of the race, to claim the 11th ARCA Menards Series victory of his career.

Heim came home in second-place, with Nick Sanchez tying a season-high third-place finish tonight at Toledo. Jesse Love and Thad Moffitt rounded out the top-five. Cole Williams – who got the call to run the event on Saturday Morning — finished in sixth-place, with Gracie Trotter picking up her first top-10 finish of the year in seventh. Alex Clubb, AJ Moyer and Dick Doheny rounded out the top-10.
