Ty Gibbs was putting on another impressive dominating performance in ARCA Menards East Series competition on Friday at Dover International Speedway. However, late in the race, Sam Mayer got alongside Gibbs, but lost control briefly and slapped the left side of Gibbs’ car. Luckily both drivers were able to keep control and maintained the top-two spots.

The grandson of Joe Gibbs continued to lead the race. In fact, he had led all of the opening 104 laps of the 125 lap General Tire 125 until Mayer got another burst and attempted to get around Gibbs again. This time, Mayer made contact with the rear bumper of Gibbs to take the lead as they were coming to 20 laps left in the race.

Some how, some way Gibbs held on and he had Mayer in his sights for a potential late-race battle between the two 17-year old phenoms.
