IndyCar, Indy Lights TV and Streaming Schedule: Road America

The NTT IndyCar Series is in action for a third consecutive weekend as the drivers and teams head to a track that is one of the country’s ultimate classics, Road America.

A full three-day show is scheduled with an extended first practice session that will be 75 minutes from the typical allotted track time of 45. This is a new experiment the series is trying and will wait to hear what the drivers and teams have to say, an added factor is that only a single set of alternate Firestone red tires will be allowed during the session.

It’s the eighth round of the 2022 season and after Will Power’s crafty drive at the Detroit Grand Prix, the championship heads to a venue that has seen a bit of parity in its last five events. Since 2018, there have been five different winners over four seasons, with a doubleheader weekend in 2020.

Josef Newgarden, Alexander Rossi, Scott Dixon, Felix Rosenqvist and Alex Palou are the drivers who have grabbed those checkered flags. Palou won last season, which was his second victory of his title-winning year.

The standings have a new leader and that is last week’s victors, Power and Team Penske, back at the top with a three-point lead over team rival, Marcus Ericsson and Chip Ganassi Racing. Pato O’Ward sits third, Palou is slotted in fourth and Newgarden rounds out the current top five in points.

Alexander Rossi went from 11th in the standings to seventh with a runner-up finish. The No. 27 Andretti Autosport Honda team have earned back-to-back top fives, they now head into the track where their last win in 2019 was achieved, all on a 44-race winless streak.

Indy Lights continue its momentum and roll into Road America for their seventh event of the year. Linus Lundqvist swept the weekend on the Raceway at Belle Isle Park for his fourth win on the season and third consecutive.

The 23-year-old Swede extends his lead atop the championship to 84 points over Benjamin Pederson, who scored second place on the Saturday race from the Motor City. Sting Ray Robb came back for his fourth podium this season on Sunday from an 11th place finish in Race 1.

Robb entered and left the weekend third in the championship, 92 points behind the leader. Danial Frost and Matthew Brabham close the top five positions in the standings.
