IndyCar, Indy Lights TV and Streaming Schedule: Detroit Grand Prix

The NTT IndyCar Series calms from the craze that was Indianapolis and returns to street course competition from the Raceway at Belle Isle.

It’s the seventh round of the 2022 season and there are more watchful players in the current championship standings. With the Indianapolis 500 victory in hand, Marcus Ericsson jumped from eighth in the points and now is the series leader over Pato O’Ward and Alex Palou.

Team Penske didn’t have the sweetest race last Sunday, with no drivers in the top 10 and another not finishing the event. Will Power, who was ahead of the field in the standings, now sits fourth. Scott McLaughlin and Josef Newgarden were third and fourth, now Newgarden slots fifth with McLaughlin in seventh.

Next year, Detroit will have their race in a new location. A 1.7-mile street course in downtown will be used until 2025, meaning Belle Isle is saying farewell with 30 races completed after this weekend.

Typically it is a doubleheader of IndyCar races during this weekend, but it will be just one single 70-lap contest on Sunday. The top two in the championship, currently, are the defending winners of last season’s pair of Detroit events, Ericsson and O’Ward.

Indy Lights return after a two week break after a pair of races on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Danial Frost won the first race on the weekend, picked up his first career checkered flag. Points leader, Linus Lundqvist scored a second win on the year in the second race at Indy.

Frost sits 34 points back on the championship lead and Sting Ray Robb is in third, 38 behind.
