It was a wild night on the virtual high banks at Daytona International Speedway, as many real-world drivers, iRacing veterans, and Toby, competed in the NASCAR Report Daytona Charity Shootout Presented by Alpha Prime.
Dean Thompson – who will drive full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series next season for Niece Motorsports — was able to capture the victory, as the top-five drivers were collected in a final lap accident, that derailed their chances at the victory.
Ryan Ellis finished in second after being involved in the accident, while Bryden Lindauer, Lawless Alan, and AJ McCarron – yes, that AJ McCarron — rounded out the top-five. Jared Caylor, Riley Marabello, Nathan Reynolds, Garrett Miller, and Thomas Lloyd rounded out the top-10.
TobyChristie.com’s Toby Christie was – to many people’s surprise — running in the lead pack at the white flag, but was caught up in the large last-lap accident, bringing his No. 70 TobyChristie.com entry home in 14th.
Things weren’t all roses and rainbows for Christie though, after causing a massive accident before the one-third mark of the event, which saw his car fly into the catch fence and many other drivers get caught up.

However, the story of the night was the yellow flags, all nine of them, and the subsequent quick repairs. In the 60-lap event, competitors were allowed three quick repairs, many of which were used. In fact, Anthony Alfredo – who finished 24th — only completed 26 laps before he had used all three quick repairs and got into another wreck.
Official details regarding the charity of Thompson’s choice and the exact amount to be donated, have yet to be officially announced.
