Negotiating lap traffic can be one of the hardest things to do at Daytona, and that beast struck again in Saturday’s ARCA Menards Series race.

The field approached the No. 06 of A.J. Moyer and tried to get by, but the lap car was moving just a little too much for comfort, sending Jesse Love around for a spin and sending Tim Richmond hard into the inside wall.

“Pretty hard impact,” Richmond told TobyChristie.com after the incident. “Being a small independent team it hurts to lose a car, we’ll get it repaired and hopefully be back out there.”

This is a huge blow to the No. 27 team, as the entire crew was amped about the piece they had brought for this event and in future events down the road. Richmond was running inside the top-15 at the time.

“Pretty good racing, two-by-two the whole time,” Richmond continued. “Everyone drifted up, looked like the 20 got turned. I saw him dive to the inside, I knew I had cars outside of me we were already up half a groove. Tried to go low and it just didn’t work out.”

In an interview with FOX Sports 1, Richmond cited his next ARCA Menards Series attempt as the series’ third event of the season at Talladega Superspeedway.
