After a night of tension and confrontation at the ARCA Menards Series West event at Irwindale Speedway.

In a release from the series, Venturini Motorsports crew members Kevin Reed Sr and Kevin Reed Jr have been penalized for violations of Sections 12-8 and 12-8.1, relating to the ARCA Menards Series Conduct.

Reed Sr has been suspended indefinitely from the ARCA Menards Series platform, while Reed Jr has been suspended for the next two ARCA Menards Series platform races.

This is not the first time they have faced issues and suspensions. Back in 2021, Reed Sr, Reed Jr, and VMS driver at the time Drew Dollar all faced penalties for an incident that took place after the race at Michigan where reports came that several people “homophobic slurs being shouted across the airport parking lot.”

After this incident, Reed Jr was fined $1,500 by series officials and was suspended indefinitely. Both Reed Sr and Dollar were just given monetary fines and placed on prohibition til the end of the 2021 season.

All this comes after a tense and confusing scene at the end of the West Coast Stock Car Motorsports Hall of Fame 150 at Irwindale Speedway on July 6th. After a moment of confusion post-race, a hot mic on the FloRacing broadcast caught tensions between Irwindale’s track promoter Tim Huddleston, and someone else off camera.

“Hey, fuck you buddy,” Tim Huddleston the PA announcer shouted. “They’re so disrespectful, we’re not interviewing them. They don’t need it,” was shouted over the PA system and the broadcast at the time.

Huddleston went on to interview the race winner Hingorani after the race broadcast had ended.

After the events, a source at the track reached out to TobyChristie.com and confirmed that series officials announced to teams that the final restart would be a one-lap dash instead of a two-lap green white checkered for tonight’s ARCA Menards Series West Race at Irwindale Speedway.

This source also says that there were some tempers between the Venturini Motorsports crew and Irwindale Speedway promoter Tim Huddleston during the tracks “Night of Destruction” on Thursday, July 4th.
