Sam Mayer has once again defeated Miles the Monster and the Dover International Speedway, earning his second consecutive victory at the one-mile concrete race track that is often described as one of the hardest on the NASCAR circuit.

The 18-year old claimed his sixth career ARCA Menards Series East victory  and his seventh career victory in NASCAR/ARCA’s regional divisions this afternoon at Dover, after a hard fought battle with the race’s dominant car, driven by Ty Gibbs.

David Gilliland, Mason Diaz, Max McLaughlin and Drew Dollar rounded out the top-five finishers.

Running second-place with 16 laps to go, Gibbs – who led 104 of the event’s 125 laps — blew a right front tire, sending the No. 18 Toyota Camry hard into the outside wall. Gibbs would go on to finish in 12th-place.

DGR-Crosley Racing’s Taylor Gray ran inside the top-five for the majority of the event, until the 15-year old made heavy contact with the turn four wall, resulting in a ninth-place finish.

Joe Graf, Jr. – who was using this race as an attempt to try and gain some experience for Saturday and Sunday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series races — finished 17th of 17 cars, after a mechanical issue sidelined him on lap twelve.
