Josh Berry has once again wiped the floor with the NASCAR Xfinity Series field, this time in qualifying for Saturday’s Cabo Wabo 250 at Michigan International Speedway.

The JR Motorsports driver, who captured the pole with a spectacular lap just two weeks ago at Pocono Raceway, scored his third career pole in the second-tier series with a lap of 37.985 seconds (189.549mph).

Justin Allgaier, a teammate to Berry, will start alongside the No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro on the front row for Saturday’s event at the two-mile facility, after clocking in a quarter-second slower than the eventual polesitter.

Austin Hill was the last driver to take time around the two-mile oval and clocked in third, barely disrupting what was poised to be a top-three sweep for JR Motorsports, and thus demoting the series’ most recent winner, Sam Mayer to fourth place.

Riley Herbst will complete the race’s top-five starters. Chandler Smith will start on the outside of the third row, while Carson Hocevar earned a career-high seventh-place starting spot via Friday’s single-car qualifying session.

Joe Gibbs Racing drivers rounded out the top-10 with Ty Gibbs in eighth, Sammy Smith in ninth, and John Hunter Nemechek earning a 10th-place starting spot.

Other notables include Ross Chastain in 11th, Cole Custer in 13th, Brandon Jones in 14th, Sheldon Creed in 15th, and Daniel Hemric in 16th.

Sage Karam, coming off of a stellar top-five run at Road America for Sam Hunt Racing, earned the final spot in the field on speed, locking himself and MBM Motorsports into the field for the ninth time this season. Similarly, Dawson Cram and CHK Racing locked themselves into the show for only the fourth time this season, posting the 32nd-fastest lap times in Friday’s qualifying session.

Mason Massey, driving the No. 44 Chevrolet Camaro for Alpha Prime Racing, failed to make the show after serving as a sub-in for Leland Honeyman – who wasn’t approved to compete at Michigan. CJ McLaughlin, driving the No. 53 for Emerling-Gase Motorsports, also failed to make the field.
