Back in November, Dale Earnhardt Jr. announced that he would be adding a second NASCAR Xfinity Series start to his 2023 driving schedule with sponsorship from Bass Pro Shops on his No. 88 Chevrolet Camaro. On Thursday, Earnhardt announced the venue of the second start.
On October 21st, Earnhardt will pilot the No. 88 machine for JR Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Earnhardt announced the news by sharing video from a recent shopping trip at Bass Pro Shops, and attaching a tweet that stated, “Getting all the supplies I need for @HomesteadMiami from @BassProShops. See you all in October.”
Since retiring from full-time NASCAR Cup Series competition at the end of the 2017 season, Earnhardt has competed in one NASCAR Xfinity Series race each season. In his five NASCAR Xfinity Series starts since retiring from full-time NASCAR competition, Earnhardt has scored three top-five finishes including a best finish of fourth at Richmond Raceway in 2018.
Earnhardt, 48, had previously announced Bristol Motor Speedway as the site of his yearly NASCAR Xfinity Series start with Hellmann’s sponsorship. And then in November 2022, at a Bass Pro Shops announcement in Concord, North Carolina, Earnhardt announced an additional NASCAR Xfinity Series start would be coming in 2023.
The NASCAR Hall of Famer has amassed 50 victories in the NASCAR National Series ranks including 24 wins in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition and 26 wins in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Earnhardt was the 1998 and 1999 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, and he earned eight berths in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs over his storied career.
