After scrubbing the outside wall in the opening minutes of practice, William Byron will start on pole for Sunday’s AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway, scoring his 10th career pole in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Byron, driving the No. 24 for Hendrick Motorsports, posted the quickest time in the second round of qualifying on Saturday, laying down a time of 30.133 seconds (179.206mph) to score his second pole of 2023.

Kyle Larson, Byron’s teammate at Hendrick Motorsports, will start alongside him on the front row for Sunday’s race, after coming up just six one-thousandths of a second short of scoring the pole position.

Ross Chastain will start from third place, after posting a time of just six one-thousandths of a second behind Larson, and 12 one-thousands off the pole position. Martin Truex, Jr. and Tyler Reddick completed the top five.

Joey Logano, Ty Gibbs, Denny Hamlin, Daniel Suarez, and Ryan Blaney each scored starting spots inside the top-10, after being inside the top five in each of their respective groups.

Austin Dillon and Christopher Bell will start 11th and 12th, after narrowly missing out on the final round of NASCAR Cup Series qualifying on Saturday.

Other notable drivers starting outside the top-10 for Sunday’s AdventHealth 400 include Kevin Harvick (13th), Kyle Busch (16th), Brad Keselowski (20th), Chase Elliott (21st), Josh Berry (29th), and Chase Briscoe (31st).

Josh Bilicki, driving the No. 78 Chevrolet Camaro for Live Fast Motorsports, will start from 36th in Sunday’s 400-mile contest at Kansas, after failing to post a qualifying lap, due to an incident in the series’ 20-minute practice session.

With just 36 drivers entered in the NASCAR Cup Series event at Kansas Speedway, there won’t be any drivers heading home prior to the start of Sunday’s AdventHealth 400.
