Kyle Weatherman, who has run four NASCAR Xfinity Series events for Our Motorsports this season, will move over to the No. 96 FRS Racing entry for next weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Richmond Raceway.

FRS Racing made the official announcement of the acquisition of Weatherman via a video released to Twitter on Sunday.

According to a render of the paint scheme, also shared by FRS Racing, Weatherman will have primary sponsorship from Brew Haha Brewing Company for the effort.

Back on February 10th, Collin Fern announced the formation of his own NASCAR Xfinity Series team — FRS Racing. Fern, who was a longtime employee of Brandonbilt Motorsports, announced that his team would contest a part-time NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule in 2023 with the hope being that the team could compete full-time in 2024.

Next weekend’s race at Richmond will serve as the debut race for the organization and Weatherman is honored to be the first racer behind the wheel for FRS Racing.

“Really excited to make the first-ever start for Collin and FRS Racing,” Weatherman said. “I’ve worked with Collin for the past few weeks while he was spotting for me and I am excited for him to wear the owner’s hat this next weekend in Richmond! We have been working really hard on this No. 96 Chevrolet for the past week and I am ready to get it on track.”

Weatherman, 25, is the perfect match for FRS Racing, which will need to make it into the field on speed. Weatherman has built a reputation over his career of maximizing the performance of cars on the lower end of the owner point standings in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Seeing the results Weatherman has had with underfunded teams, Fern is excited to see what the young racer can do in his equipment.

“Kyle has shown his talent week in and week out in whatever equipment he is in. I am excited for the opportunity to have him in the No. 96,” team owner Fern said. “I have had the luxury of working with him over the past month and his knowledge, talent and work ethic is unmatched.”

The Missouri native has scored three top-10 finishes over the course of his NASCAR Xfinity Series career, and he has achieved those results with three different teams — Mike Harmon Racing, DGM Racing and Jesse Iwuji Motorsports.

In four starts in the No. 02 Our Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro this season, Weatherman recorded a best finish of 16th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Weatherman moving to the No. 96 entry for Richmond, creates an opening for the No. 02 Our Motorsports team.
