Ryan Hunter-Reay, the 2014 Indianapolis 500 champion, will return to the Brickyard in 2023 behind the wheel of the No. 23 Chevrolet entry for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.

The Dreyer & Reinbold Racing team made the announcement on Wednesday in the form of a Tweet shared at 4:10 PM ET.

Following the tweet from the race team, Hunter-Reay quote tweeted the post with his own Tweet, which read, “Psyched for this opportunity! See you in May.

In addition to his 2014 Indy 500 victory, the 42-year old racer boasts three top-five finishes and six top-10 efforts in 14 starts in the iconic event.

Hunter-Reay, who did not compete in the NTT IndyCar Series in 2022, has amassed 16 victories over the course of 239 career starts in the series. Hunter-Reay was also the NTT IndyCar Series champion in 2012, a season where the racer scored four victories.

The Indianapolis 500 effort will join Hunter-Reay’s full schedule of SRX Racing in 2023. The native of Dallas, Texas announced on February 28th that he will compete in all six of the summer racing series events. The SRX Racing Series will run on Thursday nights this year and will be broadcast on ESPN.
