The sole NASCAR Cup Series practice session of the weekend is complete from Phoenix Raceway, and Kyle Larson, last week’s runner-up finisher at Las Vegas, leads the speed charts from the one-mile facility.

Friday’s 50-minute practice session was an ‘extended practice’ session in order to give teams the opportunity to get acclimated to NASCAR’s new aero package for short tracks and road courses.

Larson, driving the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro, put down a time of 27.427 seconds (131.257mph) in Friday’s NASCAR Cup Series practice session, as he looks to collect his second top-five of 2023.

Ryan Blaney posted the second-quickest time of Friday’s session, with Larson’s teammate at Hendrick Motorsports teammate Alex Bowman sitting third. Joey Logano and Chase Briscoe completed the top five.

Brad Keselowski was sixth, with Daytona 500 winner Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. in seventh. Harrison Burton, Kevin Harvick, and Aric Almirola completed the top-10.

Larson led the session when it came to 5-lap, 10-lap, and 20-lap averages. In 10-lap averages, Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick, and William Byron rounded out the top-five.

Qualifying for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Phoenix Raceway will take place on Saturday, March 11th.
