Chase Elliott’s attempt at winning SpeedFest 2023 at Crisp Motorsports Park has come to a premature ending after the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion climbed over the left-rear corner of another competitor.

Elliott had just bolted a set of right-side tires on his No. 9 Fr8Auctions Chevrolet, relegating him to the rear of the field for the race’s final 24-lap run, when he made significant contact with Michael Hinde, spinning him around.

Unfortunately for the Dawsonville, Georgia-native, the damage to the No. 9 was much too severe to continue forward in the event, which would ultimately relegate Elliott to finishing in the 19th position, multiple laps down.

The accident between Elliott and Hinde would set up another late-race dash at Crisp Motorsports Park, in what has historically been a full-contact event, especially in the late stages. With Corey Heim on brand-new tires, and Bubba Pollard on tires 50 laps older, the incident will likely set up a fantastic run to the end of SpeedFest 2023.
