Video: Ryan Vargas Crashes HARD in Xfinity Series Qualifying from Kansas Speedway

Ryan Vargas will definitely be headed to a backup car for Saturday’s Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway, after spinning off of turn two in qualifying and impacting the inside wall. Screenshot from USA Network broadcast.

It’s been an eventful qualifying session for the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Kansas Speedway, with the 1.5-mile facility proving once again that despite its basic layout, it is quite a traitorous track.

Ryan Vargas, driving the No. 6 Chevrolet Camaro for JD Motorsports, had already seen his first attempt at a qualifying run halted after a spin by Kris Wright, and then disaster really struck on his second attempt.

On his second attempt at a flying lap, the 21-year-old broke loose off of turn two, quickly spinning to the inside of the track, and eventually making hard contact with the inside wall, destroying his JD Motorsports entry.

Despite the hard impact with the inside wall, Vargas was able to climb from the car under his own power and has been brought to the infield care center for a post-crash check-up. His JD Motorsports team will certainly have to go to a backup car.
