Horrible luck for Kevin Harvick and the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing team, as they are done for the night after completing 274 laps in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
Heading into a green flag pit sequence, Harvick was sitting around the 10th position. Following his pit stop, Harvick’s car ignited into flames on lap 275. As Harvick got his car stopped, the flames quickly spread.
Fortunately, Harvick was able to climb from the car without injury.
Here is video of the bizarre and fiery scene that ended Harvick’s race:

Harvick, who entered the race as the ninth seed in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, will see his championship hopes take a hit. But fortunately, for the driver who has two wins this season, several other Playoff contenders have run into problems in Sunday’s race as well.
