Ryan Preece and David Gilliland Racing’s No. 17 team have gotten their victory defense off to a fantastic start at Nashville Superspeedway, capturing the pole for Friday’s Rackley Roofing 200 at the 1.33-mile facility.

The 31-year-old posted the fastest time in Friday’s single-truck qualifying session with a time of 29.753 seconds (160.925mph) to capture his first pole in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Zane Smith – a three-time winner this season — will start in the runner-up spot for Friday’s event, posting a time exactly one-tenth of a second slower than the David Gilliland Racing entry.

Carson Hocevar, Corey Heim, and Derek Kraus will round out the top-five starters for the 150-lap contest. Chandler Smith, Grant Enfinger, Matt DiBenedetto, Stewart Friesen, and Jack Wood will complete the top 10.

Other notables include John Hunter Nemechek (11th), Ty Majeski (12th), Christian Eckes (13th), Ben Rhodes (15th), Matt Crafton (19th), and Parker Kligerman (24th).

Tate Fogleman (Rackley WAR), Chase Janes (G2G Racing), Clay Greenfield (Cook Racing Technologies), Jennifer Jo Cobb (Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing), Justin Carroll (Terry Carroll Motorsports), and Bret Holmes (Bret Holmes Racing) were the six trucks that failed to qualify for the event.
