Inspection Complete: Chase Elliott Officially Wins Phoenix, Cup Series Championship

UPDATE November 8, 2020 — 10:20 PM ET

Engine teardown has been completed and Chase Elliott has officially been declared the winner of the Season Finale 500 at Phoenix Raceway and he is the official 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Champion.


Post-race technical inspection following Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Season Finale 500 at Phoenix Raceway has been completed.

Chase Elliott’s race-winning No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro has passed. As long as his engine passes post-race teardown this evening, he will be declared the official winner of the race and the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion.

No issues were discovered in post-race inspection. As such, all results and standings will be considered official following engine teardown.

Note: This story will be updated at the conclusion of engine tear down.
