Monday was a whirlwind day in the NASCAR circles. Following Kevin Harvick’s fourth win of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday evening, President Donald Trump fired off a Tweet suggesting that Bubba Wallace needs to apologize to his fellow drivers and NASCAR officials for them risking everything to stand next to Wallace after the noose incident at Talladega last month.

The tweet has had mixed reaction on Twitter, but the majority of the NASCAR fanbase seems to not be on board with President Trump’s message.

Wallace’s Richard Petty Motorsports majority owner Andrew Murstein also released a statement saying that Trump’s tweet was, “misinformed.”

Mid-day on Monday, Wallace released a statement of his own on the matter to Twitter. This was more of an open letter to the future generations. In the end, Wallace hammers home a message of love over hate, “even when it’s hate from the POTUS.”

Wallace finished ninth in Indianapolis on Sunday, his third top-10 finish of the 2020 season. The 25-year old Alabama-native sits 19th in the NASCAR Cup Series championship standings and has been closing in on a potential Playoff berth.
