Ryan Newman continues to be on the mend after a scary crash while leading on the final lap of the Daytona 500 a couple of weeks ago. Tuesday, Newman shared a photo of his “therapy” session from Monday.

No, Newman wasn’t laid back up in a hospital, instead, he was fishing.

It’s just wild to think after we all hoped for the best, but had started to fear the worst, Newman is already recovered to the point where he is able to hit the water and go fishing.

Newman, 42, has amassed 18 victories over a NASCAR Cup Series career, which has spanned 21 years.

He moved to Roush Fenway Racing to drive the No. 6 Ford Mustang in 2019, and shockingly made the Playoffs. Newman was looking to nab his first win since 2017 in the season-opening Daytona 500, when the accident occurred. Now, Newman’s goal is to be back on track in time to still compete for the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series championship.

Ross Chastain is filling in for Newman, but if Newman returns he will need a medical waiver from NASCAR (which will more than likely be granted), he will need to win a race and be inside the top-30 of the NASCAR Cup Series point standings in order to qualify for the Playoffs.
