27-year old driver CJ McLaughlin, who started seven NASCAR Xfinity Series events in 2019 will nearly triple that total for the 2020 season as he has announced a 20-race deal to drive for RSS Racing with his returning sponsor SciAps. McLaughlin’s first start will be in the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway.

McLaughlin will drive RSS Racing’s No. 93 entry.

The Boston-based instrumentation company, which specializes in portable analytical instruments, sponsored all seven of McLaughlin’s starts in 2019 and are happy to be back with the talented racer.

“SciAps is very pleased to be renewing our sponsorship of CJ for the 2020 Xfinity season and increasing the number of races,” said Don Sackett, CEO of SciAps Inc. “The NASCAR demographics meld perfectly with many of the industries our products serve. The brand awareness and customer loyalty our sponsorship has built surpassed all of our expectations in 2019. In addition, because CJ is so engaging with our client base, we’re really pleased to be supporting the early stages of his racing career.”

A press release from RSS Racing states that the 20-race schedule could grow by season’s end if additional sponsorship is found for McLaughlin.

For McLaughlin, who had a best finish of 23rd at Bristol in his first season of Xfinity Series action, he is looking forward to coming out of the box at Daytona with more experience.

“This year has been amazing for so many reasons; from my first start at Daytona in ARCA to my first start in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway,” said McLaughlin. “I am excited and thankful for RSS Racing allowing me to come on board and SciAps for their amazing continued support and sponsorship. I am looking forward to getting to Daytona in February.”

RSS Racing is ecstatic to bring back the Massachusetts native to their organization and there is a feeling that McLaughlin will only get better as he acquires more time behind the wheel.

“We are thrilled to have CJ and SciAps returning to RSS Racing in 2020,” said the team in a release. “CJ is a talented driver & will only get better with more seat time.”
