The 2019 NASCAR K&N Pro East Series champion Sam Mayer is making his second-career NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series start Saturday at Martinsville Speedway.

It didn’t take him long to score his first-ever Stage win.

The driver of the No. 21 truck started the day from the 21st-position. However, he used pit strategy to work his way toward the front late in Stage 2.

After Matt Crafton’s No. 88 truck had an ECU malfunction, with less than 20 laps to go in the Stage, Mayer was able to take the lead.

Mayer would lead the final 12 laps of the Stage.

Grant Enfinger ended the Stage in the runner-up spot, while Austin Hill was the highest Playoff driver in third.

Ross Chastain and Christian Eckes rounded out the top-five finishers in Stage 2.

Tyler Dippel was sixth, while Brett Moffitt was seventh.

Johnny Sauter, Danny Bohn and Stewart Friesen finished eighth through 10th.

Crafton ended the Stage eight laps down in 29th-spot.
