It was a hell of a weekend for Alex Labbe, who was driving the No. 90 Chevrolet Camaro SS for Mario Gosselin’s race team in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Drive for the Cure 250.

Labbe stunned the world with a sixth-place qualifying effort, but little did anyone know the Canadian driver would be able to equal that staggering performance in the actual race.

On an afternoon that was full of drama, close calls and miscues, Labbe stayed rock-steady.

He was a consistent threat inside the top-10 all race long, despite driving for an organization that isn’t known for competing for victories.

At the end of Stage 1, Labbe found himself in the fourth-position. By the end of Stage 2, the 26-year old was still sitting in seventh. It was apparent that Labbe was going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Over the final few laps of the race, Labbe steered clear of Christopher Bell and Chase Briscoe slamming and spinning each other out. He also stayed out of the pileups near the front of the pack as well on restarts. When the checkered flag was shown, Labbe was in sixth-place.

The finish marks Labbe’s career-best finish in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition.

Not only is this Labbe’s best-ever finish, but it’s also the best finish that any DGM Racing car has ever finished in a NASCAR Xfinity Series event as well.

In 230 starts in the Series, the team has now recorded just five top-10 finishes. Two of those top-10 finishes have come at the hands of Labbe.

Labbe, the 2017 NASCAR Pinty’s Series champion has been running a part-time schedule in the NXS in 2019. Perhaps, he should be a full-time competitor going forward.
