FatHead Racing announced on Thursday that NASCAR Cup Series competitor Josh Berry will compete in a pair of Pro Late Model events with the team during May.
Berry, who drives the No. 21 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Wood Brothers Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series, will race at both North Wilkesboro Speedway and Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
On Thursday, May 15, Berry will compete in the zMAX CARS Tour Pro Late Model event at North Wilkesboro as part of NASCAR All-Star Race weekend. Berry is already qualified for the NASCAR All-Star Race following his win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March.
“We’re already locked into the All-Star Race that weekend, so it really made sense to jump in and run the Pro Late Model event with FatHead Racing,” said Berry. “It gives me a chance to get some additional laps at Wilkesboro and work with a great group of racers.”
Berry and the FatHead Racing team will also race in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Rackley Roofing Battle of Broadway 150 at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on Thursday, May 29. The event takes place on the Thursday before the NASCAR Cup Series weekend at nearby Nashville Superspeedway.
Berry also competed in the event last year, finishing fifth at the track where his racing career began.
“Nashville is my home track — it’s where I grew up racing,” said Berry. “Every time I have a chance to go back and race there, I try to make it happen. I love being able to support the track, the people, and the racing community in that area. The competition is always tough, but there’s something special about racing where it all started for me.
“The main goal with these races is pretty simple — go out, compete hard, and have some fun along the way. That’s what I love about short track racing. It’s pure. You show up, put the work in, and let the racing do the talking.”
FatHead Racing is eager to bring in Berry and utilize his experience, both as a short-track racer and now a NASCAR Cup Series winner, to improve their program and mentor young drivers with the team.
“Josh is the kind of racer who just gets it,” said Jamie Yelton, FatHead Racing team owner. “He’s humble, he’s hardworking, and he brings so much knowledge and experience to the table. I’ve known him for a long time and have always had a lot of respect for how he carries himself, both on and off the track,” he continues. “We’re proud to have him in our car and part of the FatHead family, even if it’s just for a couple of events.
“We’ve had a lot of success at Nashville over the years with a number of talented drivers,” Yelton added. “To be able to go back there with someone like Josh — who knows the track and who has that deep connection to the area — it’s something we’re all really excited about. We’re looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish together.”
Berry won the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March in his third start with Wood Brothers Racing. The Hendersonville, Tennessee native is currently 20th in NASCAR Cup Series points, but has led laps in four of the series’ eight races thus far in 2025.
