How about this for a story? Lee Pullium, making his NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series debut in the No. 9 for JR Motorsports, was the quickest driver in practice for Saturday’s NFPA 250 at Martinsville Speedway.
Pulliam was one of just a couple of drivers who decided to make a mock qualifying run in Friday’s 50-minute practice session from the half-mile paperclip, leading Josh Williams and Ryan Ellis, in second and third. Ross Chastain was fourth quickest, also driving for DGM Racing, with Carson Kvapil rounding out the top-five.
Jeb Burton was sixth fastest in the session, with Taylor Gray seventh, Brandon Jones eighth, Austin Hill ninth, and Hendrick Motorsports driver Corey Day rounding out the top-10.
Harrison Burton turned 72 laps around Martinsville Speedway in the session, more than anybody else. Qualifying for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 250 at Martinsville will follow after a short break.
