Over the last couple of weeks, qualifying has been a strong suit for Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, with Brandon Jones coming off of back-to-back poles in the series at Darlington and Kansas. This time though, it was Ty Gibbs.

With a lap of 16.653 seconds (122.584mph), Gibbs put his No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota Supra on the pole position for Friday’s Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway, scoring his fourth first-place start of the season and the fifth of his Xfinity Series career.

JR Motorsports teammates Josh Berry and Justin Allgaier qualified second and third place, with AJ Allmendinger and Sam Mayer rounding out the top five. Sammy Smith was able to post the sixth-fastest time in Friday’s qualifying session.

Jeb Burton qualified a surprising seventh place on Friday, as he looks to pull himself out of an eight-race stretch without a finish inside the top-20. Daniel Hemric, Noah Gragson, and Ryan Sieg completed the top-10.

Of the drivers battling for the final spots in the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs, Hemric will start eighth, with Sieg in 10th while Landon Cassill will start 17th, and Sheldon Creed 22nd.

With 41 drivers entered for Friday’s Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway, three drivers failed to make the 300-lap contest, those drivers being Brennan Poole (Jimmy Means Racing), Chad Finchum (MBM Motorsports), and Dawson Cram (Mike Harmon Racing).
