After Travis McCullough was unable to practice the No. 47 G2G Racing truck in Friday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice session at Sonoma Raceway, the team will now lean on Stefan Parsons to drive the truck on Saturday.

G2G Racing’s team owner Tim Viens confirmed the driver change to TobyChristie.com on Friday afternoon.

McCullough had submitted his NASCAR mandated drug test before heading to Sonoma Raceway, but the results did not come back in time for practice on Friday. It’s an issue that plagued a couple of teams in Sonoma.

“Happened to Travis in our truck, the No. 47,” Tim Viens explained to TobyChristie.com, “and also sounded like it happened to the [No.] 30 [truck].

McCullough, who has never made a NASCAR National Series start in his career, is unable to attempt to qualify or run laps in a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event without running practice beforehand.

With that being the case, Viens made a call and got Parsons to suit up for him.

“No, because he’s a rookie, they won’t let [McCullough] qualify tomorrow without practice, so, I made a driver change and put Stefan Parsons in,” Viens said. “He’s going to attempt to qualify for us.”

37 trucks will attempt to make the 36-truck field on Saturday at Sonoma Raceway. The No. 47 G2G truck is one of the few in the very unsafe zone of the owner points, so Parsons will have to lock his way into the field on speed.
