Happy NASCAR All-Star Race from North Wilkesboro Speedway, everyone! On Sunday we are set to have 300 laps of action around the iconic 0.625-mile short track, which had been off the NASCAR circuit since the 1996 season.
All of the day’s action will be carried on FS1, and things get started with the NASCAR All-Star Open at 5:00 PM ET. In that 100-lap event, 16 drivers will battle it out for the three remaining slots in the NASCAR All-Star Race field.
The top two finishers from the Open and one fan vote winner will advance to the All-Star Race.
After the open is the NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro.
The All-Star Race is a 200-lap event with a break at the midway point. No super hard-to-understand or confusing gimmicks, just straight-up racing for 200 laps. The only wrinkle is that in the second half of the race, teams can only change tires once, which could make things interesting as the track surface at North Wilkesboro Speedway is 42 years old.
Daniel Suarez and Chris Buescher will lineup on the front row for the race, after both drivers won the NASCAR All-Star 60-lap qualifying Heats on Saturday night. Click here for the complete NASCAR All-Star Race Starting Lineup.
