After taking a season apart, Kris Wright and Young’s Motorsports are set to reunite for the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Wright, who has gained experience in the NASCAR Truck Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series, will pilot the No. 02 Chevrolet Silverado RST for the entirety of the 2023 season.
“Everyone at Young’s Motorsports is thrilled to welcome Kris [Wright] back to the team for the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season,” said Tyler Young, owner of Young’s Motorsports. “His contagious energy and positive attitude have certainly been missed.”
The 28-year-old is set to enter his fourth season in NASCAR’s National Series, having collected 34 starts in the NASCAR Truck Series, and 16 starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in that period.
“Without a doubt, the additional experience he has gained on the track over the past two seasons will certainly be an asset to our program as we look toward a competitive season,” Young continued. “With hard work and perseverance, I know this can be a stellar season for Kris representing our flagship number and team in the Truck Series. Daytona is right around the corner.”
Last season, Wright contested 17 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events in the No. 44 Chevrolet for Niece Motorsports, as well as nine NASCAR Xfinity Series events for Brandonbilt Motorsports.
“I am really excited to get back in the No. 02 Chevrolet Silverado RST for the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series,” Wright said. “Young’s Motorsports has supported me throughout my NASCAR career. I am excited to have their support once again, under the Young’s Motorsports banner. Let’s get the 2023 season underway.”
FNB Corporation, one of Wright’s major backers throughout his tenure in NASCAR’s top-three series, will return to partner with driver and team in 2023, beginning with the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway.
The Pittsburg, Pennsylvania-native was able to secure a career-best 12th-place finish at the 2.5-mile superspeedway in 2021, while driving for Young’s Motorsports.
