CJ McLaughlin will run 14 races during the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule for RSS Racing in the No. 38 car with SciAps as a sponsor.

CJ McLaughlin, who has made 17-career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts to date, will add 14 more to his resume during the 2022 season as he’ll pilot the No. 38 Ford Mustang for RSS Racing.

McLaughlin, 29, will have his longtime sponsor SciAps returning for the slate of races, which begins with the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway.

“To be at Daytona in my own car with my name on it, I mean, when I was a kid, that was our one vacation a year, to go to Daytona. Now to be there in my own car with my name over the window, it means everything to me. I love that SciAps is behind this 100 percent,” McLaughlin said.

According to the SciAps website, the Massachusetts-native will be behind the wheel for the events at Daytona (Feb. 19), Las Vegas (Mar. 5), Talladega (Apr. 23), Texas (May 21), New Hampshire (Jul. 16), Michigan (Aug. 6), Daytona (Aug. 26), Bristol (Sep. 16), Texas (Sep. 24), Talladega (Oct. 1), Las Vegas (Oct. 15), Homestead (Oct. 22) and Martinsville (Oct. 29).

While not listed on the SciAps website, McLaughlin tells TobyChristie.com that he will also run the May 28th race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

McLaughlin’s career-best finish in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition, so far, has been a 20th-place effort while driving for RSS Racing at Texas Motor Speedway in the fall of 2020.

Last season, McLaughlin ran a total of six races while bouncing around between MBM Motorsports and Mike Harmon Racing.

Unfortunately, McLaughlin suffered five DNFs (Did Not Finish) during the 2021 campaign. With a return to RSS Racing for 2022, should come more stability mechanically for the driver.

Editor’s Note: This story originally stated CJ McLaughlin would run 13 races in 2022, as that is what was available on the SciAps website, however McLaughlin informed us that he will actually run 14 races after the story was published. That fact has been updated.
