Baltazar Leguizamon, runner-up in the inaugural season of F3 Americas and the winner of the 2018 Atlantic Championship Series, is looking to make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut in 2023, partnering with MBM Motorsports.

Having racked up an impressive 56 podium finishes throughout 165 starts across multiple divisions of motorsports, on multiple continents, Leguizamon is poised to become the first driver from Argentina to compete in NASCAR’s top-three series.

Should the necessary funding be found, the 22-year-old driver will make his debut in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Circuit of The Americas in March, the first of a record-setting eight road and street course events on the second-tier series scheduled for 2023.

“I am really proud to be the first Argentinean with a NASCAR National Series license,” said Leguizamon. “It’s been a long way on my career living my dream in international motorsports. All the hard work is paying off right now.”

In 2022, MBM Motorsports – owned by long-time racer Carl Long – fielded a pair of entries part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, as well as two full-time entries in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

“I am very thankful to everyone involved with this project: the NASCAR administration; my manager of eight years, Bruce Bohlander of Legacy Autosport; and Carl Long of MBM Motorsports, who opened this door for me and is helping me to reach this level. We’ve won in seven different series, and we want to keep going at this very seriously. Still, we need to find sponsors.”

Leguizamon is the first driver to be announced to MBM Motorsports’ driver lineup – in either the NASCAR Cup Series or NASCAR Xfinity Series – for the 2023 season, albeit sponsorship will need to be found in order to get the 22-year-old on track.

Additional details regarding a program for both Leguizamon and MBM Motorsports will be announced at a later date.
