Ryan Truex is a Dover Motor Speedway master. On Saturday in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Bet River 200, the 32-year-old racer showed off his mastery of the 1-mile oval in Delaware once again as he defeated Carson Kvapil in a double-overtime restart finish for the race win.
This is the second consecutive season that Truex, who drives for Joe Gibbs Racing, has scored the race win in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Dover. The driver, who played the race smart, led only the final two laps on the day.
Following the race, Truex’s race-winning No. 20 The Toyota Gazoo Racing Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota GR Supra passed post-race inspection, which led to NASCAR declaring the driver and his team the official winners of the race.
This marks the 200th NASCAR Xfinity Series win with Joe Gibbs Racing since the team switched to Toyota in 2008.
The No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Carson Kvapil, had one unsecured lug nut in post-race inspection, which will result in a monetary fine for crew chief Andrew Overstreet.
No other issues were detected in post-race tech, which means all results and standings are now considered official.
Carson Kvapil officially recorded a second-place finish in his second-career NASCAR Xfinity Series start, while Sam Mayer, Sheldon Creed, Cole Custer, AJ Allmendinger, Chandler Smith, Kyle Weatherman, Anthony Alfredo, and Parker Retzlaff rounded out the top-10 finishers.
With the ninth-place finish, Anthony Alfredo and the No. 5 Our Motorsports team claimed the $100,000 Xfinity Dash4Cash prize as they were the highest-finishing of the four teams eligible in the race.
