Matt Jaskol is an intriguing, multi-faceted individual. Over the years, the 36-year old has driven race cars competitively, been a Hollywood stunt man, he’s a driving instructor, he has also taken up a hobby of skydiving in recent years, he braved it in the jungle for 41 days as a contestant on the reality TV show Castaways and now, he’ll be making his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut for MBM Motorsports at Martinsville Speedway.

Jaskol made the announcement official on Wednesday, and even included that his deal is for four races.

Carl Long confirmed to TobyChristie.com that it was Stan Mullis, who has driven 11 NASCAR Xfinity Series races for MBM Motorsports since the 2017 season, that introduced Long to Jaskol.

While he may not be a household name, Jaskol’s racing career to this point has taken him to some unique places. He was a winner of the SKUSA SuperNats and was a World Karting Association champion in 1998.

From there, he was chosen by Paul Tracy as a teammate to AJ Allmendinger on the factory karting team in 2000. He moved to the Skip Barber National Championship Series in 2003, the same year he was selected by Red Bull to be a part of their F1 Drivers Search.

In 2004, Jaskol became the first driver to win a race sporting Red Bull colors in North America in the Montreal Gran Prix. He won the Indianapolis Grand Prix that same year with BMW.

He became the first-ever rookie champion in the ASA Speed Truck Championship in 2005, and moved to Indy Lights for the 2007 season. Jaskol also won the 20th-annual Fall Classic NASCAR Super Late Model event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Jaskol has also had some pretty big-league students as a driving instructor. In 2016, Jaskol was Alexander Rossi’s karting coach in the SKUSA SuperNationals.

At the very least, Jaskol is a very intriguing prospect. It’ll be interesting to see how he does in his first attempt at a NASCAR National Series event.
