BJ McLeod Motorsports, a mainstay in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for the last decade, has elected to scale back its operations in the second-tier series to a part-time schedule for the remainder of the 2024 season, the team confirmed on Monday.

The organization, which has fielded the No. 78 Chevrolet for owner-driver BJ McLeod in the first four Xfinity Series events of 2024, will continue to make sporadic appearances in the second-tier series throughout the year, before gearing up to return full-time in 2025.

“Although we’ve had a great start to the 2024 season, earning two top-15s and one top-20 in the first four races, we’re committed to building a top-15 contending team week-in and week-out,” said team owner, BJ McLeod. “Right now, we feel a part-time schedule will allow us the extra time we need to build up our infrastructure to be able to compete at that level for our remaining races in 2024 and beyond. We are optimistic about these changes and look forward to returning to full-time competition in the Xfinity Series for the 2025 season,”

The decision to reduce the number of race weekends for the organization in 2024, comes as part of a strategic evaluation and planning process carried out by the organization’s leadership team.

While not at the racetrack every weekend, the organization plans to continue its efforts on research, development, and optimization of race car performance, as well as driver training and strategic planning.

After the opening four NASCAR Xfinity Series events of 2024, BJ McLeod Motorsports has its No. 78 Chevrolet Camaro sitting 22nd in Xfinity Series Owner Points, a spot which would lock the team in should they choose to compete at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) on Saturday in Austin, Texas.

Additional details regarding the organization’s newly-reduced schedule of events is expected to be announced on a week-by-week basis, with no indication currently of the team’s next scheduled race.
