It appears that Mike Harmon Racing has made a change in its driver lineup for Saturday’s Unhinged 300 at Talladega Superspeedway. According to a video posted to Tim Viens’ personal Facebook account, he will now be the driver of the Mike Harmon Racing No. 47 Saturday at Talladega instead of Joe Nemechek (who is still listed on NASCAR’s Entry List and Team Rosters).

“Obviously we didn’t get on the track at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the Truck race with Mike Affarano Motorsports, but I posted this week we are going to have some great news. I’ll be driving the No. 47 Xfinity Series car on Saturday at 5:30PM on Fox Sports 1 in the Unhinged 300” Viens said in a Facebook Video.

Viens has had a rough start to 2020, partnering with Affarano Motorsports to run full-time in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series for the 2020 season. When Daytona rolled around in February, a series of incidents caused Viens to not yet contest a start in the series. After withdrawing due to inspection issues at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Viens announced that he would be leaving Affarano Motorsports effective immediately, saying he was looking for new opportunities in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Truck Series.

In addition to this weekend’s race at Talladega, Viens also announced that he would be participating in next weekend’s NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway, driving the No. 83 for CMI Motorsports.

Neither the No. 47 Mike Harmon Racing Chevrolet Camaro nor the No. 83 CMI Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado will carry sponsorship from TRUMP-PENCE 2020, but rather carry existing sponsors from each team on board his vehicles.

“As far as the TRUMP-PENCE deal, we will have good news coming soon, very good news. We are going to be announcing that stuff very soon, excited for what’s coming in the future, but I can’t announce it yet.” Viens said, in reference to his Race Fans for Trump 2020 sponsorship, which was seen on his No. 03 Truck this season, as well as the No. 47 at Daytona and Atlanta.

TobyChristie.com has reached out to both Mike Harmon Racing and CMI Motorsports for comments on Viens’ statements, but has not received an answer from either party at the time this post was made.
