Ryan Newman is the latest veteran racer to make his way back to the NASCAR National Series this season by way of Kaulig Racing and RAM’s Free-Agent Driver program. According to the team, Newman will pilot the No. 25 Ram 1500 in the upcoming NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Saturday, July 18.
“I’m really excited to get back behind the wheel at North Wilkesboro and to be part of Ram’s Free Agent Program,” Newman said. “It’s special returning to a brand I had so much success with early in my career, and racing at Wilkesboro is always cool.”
While Newman never had a chance to compete at North Wilkesboro Speedway during his full-time NASCAR Cup Series career, Newman did run the NASCAR All-Star Open at North Wilkesboro in 2023, driving the No. 51 entry for Rick Ware Racing.
In that race, Newman started 14th and finished 12th.
The South Bend, Indiana, native recorded 18 victories over 733 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series over his career, which landed him on NASCAR’s 75-Greatest Drivers list in 2023. Newman is a seven-time NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race winner, and he has one win in seven starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series ranks.
He’ll look to notch a second win come North Wilkesboro.
Kaulig Racing and RAM’s Free Agent Program have already seen a wide range of names get behind the wheel of the No. 25 RAM 1500 this season.
Tony Stewart kicked off the season for the team in the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway.
After Stewart christened the ride, Ty Dillon, Colin Braun, Corey LaJoie, Travis Pastrana, Parker Kligerman, Clint Bowyer, A.J. Allmendinger, Carson Ferguson, and Jamie McMurray.
Now, Newman will join the growing list of free-agent drivers who have piloted the truck.
