Ross Chastain Wins Stage 1 in Truck Series Race at Las Vegas, Moffitt From Last to Ninth

Ross Chastain led 24 of the 30 laps in the opening Stage of Friday night’s World of Westgate 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway en route to the Stage win.

Chastain made the pass on pole sitter Christian Eckes on lap four, and he dominated the remainder of the Stage.

Matt Crafton finished Stage 1 in second, while Austin Hill, Johnny Sauter and Todd Gilliland rounded out the top-five finishers.

Sheldon Creed ended up sixth, Brennan Poole was eighth in On Point Motorsports’ No. 30 truck and Harrison Burton was eighth.

Brett Moffitt, who had to start at the rear of the field after a tire change following qualifying, moved all the way up to ninth at the end of Stage 1. Moffitt is looking for his third-consecutive win in the series.

Rookie Playoff contender Tyler Ankrum finished 10th in the Stage.

Regular season points champion, Grant Enfinger blew a motor in the Stage and is done for the night. He will not advance to the next round of the Playoffs.

Stewart Friesen, another driver hoping to advance to Round 2 of the Playoffs also feels his motor may be down a cylinder. He ended the Stage in 14th.
